"GripStick Headphone Plug Extraction Tool", a cheap and unworthy piece
"I acquired a "GripStick Headphone Plug Extraction Tool" to remove the tip of headphone jack tip. It appeared to be a cheap rolled aluminum piece with a ring! With shipping it was $29.99. It did not work and the company refused to authorize its return. I strongly recommend not to purchase this item. Frye's has a similar piece, without the ring, for less that $5 and it is as bad! Buyer beware."
iPhone 6 Batteries are sub-standard
"I ordered 4 iPhone 6 replacement batteries for our families phones. I have installed 3 of the 4 over the past few months and all of the phones that have the new batteries are running slower and seeing the batteries run down faster than the ones we replaced. In addition, the phones get too hot to touch after a few minutes of web surfing. I thought we would save a couple of bucks versus taking the phones to the Apple store, but now I regret that decision."
Not a bad company, but a bad experience.
"I applaud iFixIt for their guides and commitment to the repair community as a whole. Their Apple after market screen for the iPhone 7+ was far from the original in my case. I followed their excellent guide to the T and experienced multiple issues with the screen.EDIT: iFixIt reached back out to me and offered a 50% refund. Seemed fair to me.Lower quality color performance. Touch glitches including unusable force touch and bad swipe action from the edges of the screen. They gave some troubleshooting tips, admittedly I did not follow every step. I did not want to take the phone apart again as I was confident enough that I made good connections with the new screen ribbon cables. They offered a money back return, but my old screen is gone and in light of the issues I went ahead and bought another phone on eBay as I require a good phone for work. I'll sell my now crappy one on eBay as is. After telling them my plan to sell the old one and cut my losses I get a response back saying "Sounds like a plan!". Tom was obviously more happy about my plan than I was. At my company we would have met somewhere in the middle, but I suppose they aren't my company.Bottom line, the screens are not top quality and are still quite expensive when compared to Apple's guaranteed replacement for a little more $$... with OEM parts too that work. Take it to Apple and save the trouble and sub-par off brand hardware."
Complete trash of a company.
"Their crowd-sourced guides are OK and mostly just take advantage of the community. Their products are OK quality and are not as good as some of the similar sites. Above all, their customer service and deceptive shipping practices are complete trash. "
"I recently had an issue with the keyboard on my 2013 MacBook Air and ordered a new upper case assembly with keyboard from ifixit. The new part arrived and I immediately noticed that there was a problem with the keyboard (4 button stuck in the depressed condition). I freed up the 4 button and installed the part. By the time I was done I noticed that the backlighting was not working well and the return key took a few presses before it would function. Tom Gantt from customer support followed up on my order and contacted me to see if everything was proceeding smoothly. I then told Tom about the problem I was experiencing with the new part and he had a replacement on its way immediately. I was impressed by the follow-up and very quick resolution to my issue. I got the new part within two days and replaced the defective part that I had installed. The replacement part Tom had sent to me worked perfectly and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with ifixit. I will be going to them whenever I have issues with my Macs...."
"Battery I got from Ifixit has no holding capacity. Went dead in 6 hours"
Battery got bubble in 2 weeks (enlarge in size)
"Battery is expanded in size with in few weeks. "
Horrible Customer Service- Faulty products
"Sent me a faulty product. This is hardly my first fix. I have fixed MacBooks, iPhones, etc. I purchased an iPhone 6 screen. After providing proof through photos that the product (and I switched my original screen back and forth with their new screen multiple times, each time my screen worked and theirs did not) they issued me a return for the full amount. After sending the product back, I received 5.00 less than I should have, their reasons being that the product tested working on their end. They did not provide proof of this. Save yourself the money, you would be better off buying from amazon or eBay where they actually publish legit reviews about how their products work."
The first battery failed
"The first battery failed after 2 weeks. Worked one day, then plugged in for charge over night. When I pressed the home button, nothing. All attempts, including Apple customer support, the phone was dead. I contacted iFixit, had to jump through hoops but to their credit they did send a new battery. Followed install directions to a tee. Ran battery down below 10% as per directions.. after two weeks the battery only gives me 125 hours standby time (down to 3%) which is exactly half of what Apple claims for standby time. I have not used the phone for any of the other normal usages since I needed a phone after the first battery quit and bought a new iPhone7 (nice phone) so I do not have any stats for normal usage. "
Wow...simple iPhone battery replacement
"Wow...rarely am I so easily surprised in a great way. Rec'd the replacement battery kit in 3 days...followed the printed and video instructions available...did the 'work' and within 30 minutes had an iPhone 6 that was working as good as new.All this for $24.95 and they even included some 'specialty' tools to make the job easier.I've bookmarked their site as one of my favorites...I'll be back ;-)"
Customer service blamed me for failing adhesive
"I ordered a new LCD screen from them for $95. Less than a month after installing the screen, it started to separate from the phone. The adhesive on the screen must have been bad, because separation only occurs when the phone is placed face down. When I emailed iFixit about the problem, it took them at least 2 days to reply to most of my emails, sometimes longer. I asked them to ship me a replacement adhesive. First, they suggested that the screen was separating because of battery swelling. Then they offered me a $5 coupon, even though the cost of new adhesives would be $11. Finally, they told me "the part requires additional adhesives to complete the installation and without those adhesives, the device is unable to be held together with just the screen adhesive". Why would a brand new LCD screen come pre-installed with adhesive if the adhesive weren't meant to hold the screen to the phone?iFixit doesn't stand behind their products, and I won't be purchasing anything from them again."
Shady business practice
"I should have looked at the reviews before ordering a replacement battery for my MacBook Pro. What a bad experience! I ordered this item on the 19th of December 2017 and it hasn't still arrived (January 8th, 2018). On January 1st, I was informed that "we believe the delay on your package may be due to USPS having trouble with battery regulations that were passed on January 1st (2017)". So why send a shipment in the first place through USPS, when there is known issues? The sales representative Kalan Sharpe offered me to send my order once more, this time with UPS, everything free of charge of course! He even added that "since you are also in California, it shouldn't take more than a few days to reach you." Begrudgingly I accepted. But the best was still to come: on January 5th, I received this email: "thanks for your patience! I'm just wanting to provide you with an update regarding the replacement we sent out. As it turns out, we ran out of stock of these Retina Battery Fix Kits right as I setup your replacement. It will likely be a few weeks before more are ready to send out. I'm hoping that's not too much of an inconvenience for you, but I know you were hoping to get along with your repairs sooner rather than later." Seriously! Seems fishy enough!I refused of course and requested an immediate refund. I haven't since then heard anything from them, and I doubt I will. I will probably wait a few more days (the shipment delayed since Christmas seems to have at last be moved somewhere else, but the delivery date is still unknown) before putting a claim with PayPal.Just be aware: it's not a good business to deal with. Moreover, according to what I read, the quality of this replacement battery doesn't seem very good. Time will tell...."
What a load of crap!
"I ordered a screwdriver kit and replacement battery for my iPhone 6 and although delivery to the UK was quick, the screwdriver kit didn't fit the screws on my iPhone 6 and the battery is down to 83% capacity after just two months of use.Might as well of ordered a cheap battery of eBay!"
"Wires came in wrong place and came broken. When i asked for a refund they told me they can’t even though i have 30 days for a refund and it was only 15 days. They guy i was speaking to through email was rude. There was no number I could use to directly talk to someone. I will never order from them again terrible website to get your iPhone screen "
"Easy to order, quick shipping and great quality tools with a life time warranty? What more could you ask for!"
